Port Coquitlam 'small town charm with big city connections'. The Fraser River GoldRush in 1858 was the beginning of this area. Originally Mary Hill was to be established as the provincial capital but for defense reasons the area was rejected by Colonel Richard Clement Moody. Port Coquitlam provides a small-town feeling and has an authentic downtown center, complete with maple trees and decorative street lamps. With over 259 hectares of parkland within its borders, the community offers an extensive system of outdoor trails perfect for cycling, hikes and leisurely walks. It is a warm and caring community committed to providing a desirable, safe place to raise a family. Today's population is 57,600 and the city flower is the azalea. Port Coquitlam is the proud home of the late Terry Fox.

Port Moody, City of the Arts, offers galleries, theatres and the unique shopping experience of Newport Village or Moody Center historic district. It is located on Burrard Inlet and has 27 kilometers of waterfront. Rocky Point Park on Burrard Inlet offers several trails including the Shoreline Trail around the inlet. Bert Finn Park has 400 hectares of second growth forest on Port Moody's North Shore. Port Moody is the gateway to the communities of Anmore and Belcarra. The recreation is endless in these two lovely areas. From salt water fun at Belcarra Regional Park to peaceful paddling on Buntzen Lake and swimming at White Pine Beach. The population of this Port Moody is 26,000.

In 1891 the municipality of the District of Coquitlam was officially incorporated. Fraser Millsprovided the first significant economic boost to the area attracting experienced loggers from Quebec which lead to the beginning of Maillardville. Coquitlam is the largest of the three cities with a population 119,000 and growing. There are more than 70 parks, including Mundy Park which is one of the Lower Mainland's largest forest parks. From Town Center Park to City Center Aquatic Complex and to the Westwood Plateau Trail System you will discover a location for all your outdoor endeavors.
